The Canada Startup Visa program had demonstrated a significant progress in 2024, with approximately 6,500 application approvals. Despite this advancement, the program still faces a considerable backlog of over 10,000 applications, primarily accumulated during the 2021-2023 period.
To address processing delays, the government has modernized its approach by implementing electronic filing systems and enhancing overall processing efficiency. The program has also strengthened its requirements for both designated organizations and applicants while introducing a fast-track option for funded channels and tech association entities.
Historical data highlights the program’s dynamic evolution:
Processing capacity has significantly improved, with 5,633 applications processed through October 2024 alone, compared to much lower figures in previous years.
The program maintains its structure of allowing up to five families to apply as shareholders and cofounders for immigration status per approved business.
Success rates remain strong: Business Incubators Consistently achieve approval rates above 80%, and Angel Investor Networks Enhanced to a 92% approval rate in 2024, up from 82% in 2023.
These numbers clearly show the program's potential and indicate the rising interest towards it.
