Malaysia’s MM2H Approves Over 22,000 Applications Since 2015

Malaysia’s Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program has recorded 22,282 approved applications since 2015, according to a parliamentary statement by Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

The program has received a total of 30,303 applications over nine years, maintaining a strong approval rate as Malaysia continues to attract long-term international residents.

China Leads Interest with Over 10,000 Approvals

  • Chinese nationals remain the largest applicant group, with 15,053 submissions and 10,830 approvals.
  • South Korea and Japan also show strong participation, with 2,056 and 1,675 approvals, respectively.
  • The United Kingdom has secured 747 approvals, indicating continued interest from Western applicants.

The peak year for MM2H was 2019, when the program received 7,948 applications and approved 3,598. However, numbers dropped during the pandemic, with only 100 applications and 77 approvals in 2021.

Despite this, MM2H has continued to gain traction post-pandemic, with renewed interest across diverse nationalities.

With new policies and growing international appeal, MM2H remains a key driver of Malaysia’s residency-by-investment landscape, offering long-term visa options for global applicants.
